Our Story
Shakthi Foundation, founded in 2014, is a registered non-profit organization that aims to improve and enrich the lives of impoverished Indians through education and employment. SF has spent the last five years working with local stakeholders to provide support to underprivileged families in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, teaching elementary mathematics and English using an app-based curriculum as part of in-class and after-school programs in underprivileged schools.

In 2020, after the sudden onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, SF created SafetyNet Project to support populations severely affected by the lockdown. SafetyNet Project enlists the help of local corporation officials and police officers to identify people in need and organize distribution networks. In two months, SF was able to deliver grocery packets containing 3-4 weeks worth of food to over 1000 struggling families in the Chennai area.
